ABSTRACT

Direct or Traditional Therapy may be viewed as those remedial activities which are undertaken with an individual, or group of individuals, which focus upon a specific area of acquired disability. Indirect Therapy approaches are those remedial or supportive activities aimed at an individual or group of individuals, but undertaken through family, professional carers and/or the environment, when direct therapy is either inappropriate or insufficient to achieve the person’s full potential for rehabilitation. Ideally, therefore, both direct and indirect therapy should be considered for each patient.
