ABSTRACT
Psychogeriatrics is the study of psychiatry applied to an elderly population: ‘the assessment, treatment and management of elderly people suffering from all kinds of mental disorder’ (Pitt 1982). This would include delirium (acute confusion), dementia, depression, mania, paranoid states, neuroses and personality and behaviour disorders.
