ABSTRACT
The conclusion summarizes the translation of narratives, landscapes, and practices between the eastern land and the western heaven in the eighteenth century. It returns to the concepts of translation and cosmopolitanism and the new light they shed on large-scale political processes. It offers insight for discussion on the methodology of historical anthropology and the theories of the anthropology of state and ethnicity that currently dominate scholarship.
