ABSTRACT

This chapter begins an in-depth overview of the full FELT program, from its early development to its current, established state. There is a focus throughout on outlining the analytic components of FELT while also describing how FELT has worked to maintain empirically sound practices to allow the model better replicability in research and in clinical practice. It provides a brief introduction to classic Play Therapy theories before moving forward with describing the usage of story stems in FELT following in the tradition set by the MacArthur Story Stem Battery. Lastly, the chapter goes into great depth about the core FELT play themes and instructs clinicians in interpreting and responding to these themes in treatment, using anxiety as the primary example.
