ABSTRACT

Jackson (1874–1948) became joint editor of the New Age in 1907, was acting editor of T.P.’s Weekly between 1911 and 1914, becoming editor in 1914. Like Frank Rutter (but unlike Fry) he stressed the revolutionary aspect of Post-Impressionism which he saw in a larger European context than most of his contemporaries. He was also aware of the Futurist enterprise. The Futurist Manifesto had been published in the Tramp (August 1910) but the pictures were not seen in London until 1912.
