Charles Ricketts, Tost-Impressionism at the Grafton Gallery' Pages on Art, 1913, pp. 149-64

This piece was orginally written for the Nineteenth Century in January 1911 but it was not published until 1913. Ricketts responded positively to some of the decorative qualities of Post-Impressionist painting, but in common with many of his contemporaries reacted against the unbridled individualism or ‘egotism’ which he saw as a symptom of degeneracy in the work of these painters.
