Manson (1879-1945) was the secretary of the Camden Town Group where he regularly exhibited his own pictures. He became Director of the Tate Gallery (193o-8). As a friend of Pissarro he had considerable sympathy for the early phases of Post-Impressionism, but in spite of a conversation with Picasso (which he records in this article) he remained unsympathetic to cubism.
