ABSTRACT
Murry (1889-1957), together with Katherine Mansfield (whom he married in 1913) and J.D. Fergusson, had started the magazine Rhythm in the summer of 1911. He was aware that Picasso had created a considerable stir in Paris with his cubist painting but had no critical vocabulary to account for the power of the pictures.
