ABSTRACT

In the past few decades, Denmark has been a prime example of a successful ‘top-down’ energy transition plan. The country’s politicians had decreed early on that, in line with the European Green Deal, the use of fossil fuels should be completely replaced by sustainable energy sources in 2050. The most important of these would be wind energy. The combination of this clear long-term goal with the courage and entrepreneurship of the Ørsted management is the foundation of Denmark’s success with wind energy.
