ABSTRACT

For the European Commission, Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is the right temporary instrument to achieve a minimum reduction of 55% CO2 by 2030, well-founded criticism notwithstanding. For the Norwegian government, capturing CO2 and storing it under the North Sea has long been an integral part of its policy for sustainability. Gas-fired power plants and the capture of CO2 go hand in hand there. And just like in Denmark, where an unwavering political vision led to a flourishing wind economy, in Norway an ecosystem has been created around the storage of CO2.
