ABSTRACT

In recent years, the EC has increasingly focused on identifying and exploring weaknesses and dependencies facing the European economy and society. This creates a sense of urgency, a proactive attitude – as was shown when the commission set up its own battery chain and drafted the Chips Act, which should bring the production of ‘smart chips’ to Europe. The EC invites politicians, entrepreneurs and scientists and asks them to form alliances that combine knowledge and industrial execution power, which can turn a trailing position into a leading one.
