ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 concludes Part I by looking at the Practice of Dialogue – another form of Person-Centered Communication. The chapter explores the work of Dialogue practitioners David Bohm, William Isaacs, Robert B. Bush, and Joseph Folger. The core idea of Dialogue is to hold meaningful conversations bolstering relationships, fostering deep learning, and nurturing creativity. Dialogue finds utility in fully person-centered contexts as well as more integrated settings. The chapter provides an in-depth account of facilitator interventions in Dialogue, encompassing active listening, reflection, summarizing, probing, and more.
