ABSTRACT

Are you a constructivist teacher? Highly effective teachers work with students individually while creating a community of learners. Constructivism means putting the child at the center of their learning so they can actively construct meaning and add this to their knowledge base. Constructivist teachers meet children where they are, planning experiential lessons that build on what is already known by the child. Using evidence-based teaching practices, teaching by heart means being present and attentive to students and the classroom community. We know many teachers are out there withering on the vine of checklists, mandates, and passive learning requirements. We believe you can still be a constructivist teacher.
