ABSTRACT

Babette Francis was born in India, but has lived in Australia since 1953, when she married. Her husband is a Queen’s Counsel. Prior to marriage she worked in a pharmaceutical firm and as a journalist and sub-editor. She has a Bachelor of Science with Honours in microbiology and chemistry and is a trained breastfeeding counsellor. She has eight children – four boys and four girls – the eldest of whom is twenty-six and the youngest eight years. Babette has published many articles on women’s health and lactation and on anti-feminism. She is a founding member of ‘Women Who Want to be Women’, National and Overseas Co-ordinator of this group, a member of several pro-life groups, and a committee member of the Council for a Free Australia.
