ABSTRACT

This chapter presents an interesting discussion of various actions that have been performed at different nodes of the study. This includes exploration of the various fields where patents are capable of being exploited and, identifying the areas where patent exploitation is suboptimal and where scope for improvement exists. The reasons for such poor performance of patents in the area of securitization have also been spotted out, viz. valuation issues and legal issues. Among these the valuation issues, i.e., the absence of suitable methods, have been emphasized. The issues relating to the valuation have been clearly outlined and a likely solution, i.e., framing a model for the purpose of valuing patents to be fruitfully exploited in the area of securitization, has been suggested. The chapter provides a synoptic view of all the processes undertaken to develop the model and also provides due justification that underlines the model and its parameters. Subsequent to the developing of the model, the chapter also provides all the necessary steps that are required to be complied with for establishing the model. The chapter states the assumptions that support the model, and finally the chapter also sorts out the limitations of research and the scope of future research.
