ABSTRACT
Previous chapters have described the extent of use of different kinds of medicines and variations in the ways in which they were used. The relationships of age, sex, social class and various attitudes with the numbers of both prescribed and non-prescribed medicines taken have been discussed. This chapter looks at the data from a different perspective. It describes and discusses the different patterns of use of the most commonly taken medicines, starting with analgesics.
