ABSTRACT

In this chapter we discuss some of the changes in the ways in which general practitioners organize their work which followed the legislative and administrative measures described in the last chapter. One development has been the increase in partnerships and the impact of this on both patients and doctors is examined first. Other organizational changes such as the increase in appointment systems are also considered as are the implications of these changes for continuity of care, for accessibility, and for family care. Finally changes in arrangements for night calls and in equipment at the practice are described.
