ABSTRACT
In this chapter, induction and other aspects of childbearing are considered from a different viewpoint, that of consultant obstetricians — the most senior doctors concerned with policy in relation to obstetric care. What do they see as the advantages and disadvantages of induction? What is their policy about it and other aspects of obstetric care, and how much do these policies vary between consultants? These are the questions examined here.
