ABSTRACT

In this chapter the research methodology is laid out. It starts by discussing the research paradigm and goes on to describe the methods used in the study, which comprise of fieldnotes, ethnographic observations accounting for much of the data, and a small number of interviews to disclose student perspectives and the lived experiences revealing processes of enculturation. Finally, the chapter concludes how the chosen methodology influences and shapes the study. The chapter discusses the research paradigm and provides tables to help illustrate the research process at various stages of the research process.
