ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a broad argument running through the preceding chapters and the conclusion drawn from it. It includes three submissions based on the discussion in this book: first, pertaining to identity constituted in an interplay of discourse and practice; second, the category of Muslim as a geopolitical concept; and third, a rethinking of the Muslim diaspora along the lines of the Islamic ecumenical community. The Muslim diaspora needs to be contextualized in the framework of religious principles, practices, and the geopolitical scenario, which fosters Islamic co-responsibility and diaspora consciousness.
