ABSTRACT

The difficulty level subject matter is a major cause of learning difficulty for some students. This chapter examines how curriculum content can be adapted for different ability levels while still serving to meet the core objectives for learning in that subject. The chapter discusses differentiation of learning objectives and the types of knowledge that we should be aiming to develop in students. Particular attention is given to curriculum needs of students with intellectual disability. The notion of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is explored, particularly designing multiple pathways to learning and multiple representations of concepts.
