Introduction

This chapter introduced the background to the debate on the Eastern versus Western expression of “leadership” within the different yet similar culture, education, and social learning contexts. It highlighted the book's scope and purpose. The authors then examined the key contributions to the debate and assessed where there are significant research gaps. Lastly, they briefly discussed the sources and methodology of the book and provided a short introduction to the following chapters.
