ABSTRACT

Jayatirtha Singh (Jay) entered his office after spending one hour of late afternoon in his favourite pastime – looking after the antiques he had collected. It was time to get down to business, evaluating some decision alternatives for The Oriental, a fine-dining restaurant that Jay had been running for the past ten years. What had started as a stellar restaurant, getting both high star ratings and full occupancy in the first few years, gradually became the favourite dine-out only of the old loyal customers. The financials had followed the business down the elevator, and the restaurant reported losses in 2017–18 and marginal profits in 2018–19.
