Riya Poddar, Founder and Director of Parishkar Cleantech finished browsing through the company's unaudited financial statements for 2019–20 mailed to her by Vinita Shroff, her finance manager. April 2021 had brought her a feeling of deja vu, with the surge in Covid-19 cases going well beyond the figures seen in 2020. The pandemic was surely going to disrupt her business and temporarily her plans to take it online. More than the bottom line, Riya was concerned about the cash position of her company.
