ABSTRACT
The most distinctive characteristic of the Negro’s position in the world of labor is his relegation to occupations in which he does not compete with white workers – in short, the perpetuation of the tradition of black men’s and white men’s jobs. This tradition is not confined to the South, but extends throughout the country.
