ABSTRACT

To begin thinking about and planning classroom practice we need a framework: an overall perspective which gives us both a start point and a sense of direction. The behavioural model offers a particular perspective on the teaching process which is clear and practical and perhaps most important of all, is positive in its philosophy. It provides teachers with a systematic way of describing and interpreting the classroom environment. It directs attention to key questions within the field of education, relating to how children learn and how teachers can maximise their effectiveness in the classroom.
