ABSTRACT
This inquiry was aimed at updating our knowledge of current policies and practices in relation to children with specific learning difficulties (SpLD) within local education authorities (LEAs). Aspects of policy and practice that were of particular interest were the approaches LEAs took to: providing statements of special educational needs, identification, provision, in-service training (INSET) and their plans for any future developments.
