ABSTRACT
The two following models, illustrating the provision of induction, illustrate the ideal, to enable teachers to function successfully, and the reality which can be expected in the present climate prevailing in our schools. The possible is discussed later. In the ideal model the new teacher would take up her first appointment having achieved success working through the appropriate levels of a National Curriculum or similar for pre-service teachers:
