ABSTRACT

OFSTED inspection is an aspect of school life which is viewed with considerable apprehension by many teachers. Inspectors are there to check that the school has all the necessary policy documents and that what the school says is happening in those documents is actually happening. They will also be monitoring the quality of teaching and ensuring that the school is complying with educational legislation. All this is very clearly set out in the OFSTED Inspection Manual (1993), both in the Framework and the Technical Papers.
