ABSTRACT

April 1906, p. 390

Letters and Notices has been since 1862 the private, internal publication of the English province of the Society of Jesus. Three articles containing extracts from Hopkins’s journals were published between 1906 and 1907, when the editor of the magazine, and of these extracts, was Fr John MacLeod (1826–1914), whom Hopkins knew at Roehampton (see Journals, 2nd edn, p. 240, December 1873). I print the opening of the first article.
