ABSTRACT

February 1935, pp. 125–36

Fr Joseph Keating, SJ (1865–1939), had been a supporter of Hopkins in the pages of the Month since 1909, and it was he who had engaged in a correspondence with Bridges for the publication of the poems. Editor of the Month since 1912, he had a strong interest in English literature and some talent for verse of his own. As a pioneer in making Hopkins better known, he merits the gratitude of later readers.
