ABSTRACT
It might be said that the erection of a new and stately Christian church in a Mohammedan city was so striking an event, that it ought to be commemorated in an especial manner, and that the most appropriate manner was the leading as it were into captivity of the architecture of its already humbled and soon to be vanquished foe.
