ABSTRACT
In this chapter we consider the sources and instruments of assessment and describe some of the methods and strategies of assessing student learning. We provide a broad outline of what methods are good for what purposes and explore strategies for easing some of the problems associated with assessing large numbers of students, heavier work loads and reduced budgets.
