ABSTRACT

IN the last chapter I have been considering the different races of man, the relation which exists between any race, and the environment in which that race lives. I have only dealt with environmental conditions and their relation to mankind in very general terms, and it is now necessary to discuss in broad outline, first, the actual environmental conditions in Asia, and secondly, the races which inhabit that continent, and to see how far, if at all, the two are correlated, with special relation to somatic rather than to cultural features.
