ABSTRACT
In its essence Assyrian religion did not differ from the Babylonian. The cult was inspired by the hoary traditions of Sippar, Uruk, and Babylon, and the dogma was only modified to fit the peculiar genius of a warrior race. In any case, religion did not exercise such an exclusive influence on this military civilization; that is particularly noticeable in the decorations of the palaces, where everything was planned to exhibit, not religious sentiment, but the glory of the ruling prince.
