ABSTRACT
Big changes in the film technique and theory discussed in Volume II are not to be expected in so short a period as that of the war. But the period, although short, was enriched by the production (in this country, the showing) of The Birth of a Nation and Intolerance. Such indications as we can find of the trends of film theory are therefore doubly interesting in their relation to the standard of achievement of these two films.
