ABSTRACT
The text reproduces the documents in the yearly order of their first publication. Exceptions occur where comments by one person over different years are conveniently brought together (e.g. Orwell, No. 102), or where one review among several grouped under a single title is a year out of sequence (e.g. Marcel, No. 85). Within a single year appropriateness of grouping has been followed rather than monthly chronological order. In all particulars the text follows that printed version of each document cited in its heading. Substantial excisions from the documents are explained in bracketed editorial remarks, minor ones indicated by ellipses. Longer quotations from Huxley not essential to contributors' arguments have been replaced by bracketed references to their sources in the Collected Edition (see A List of Huxley's Major Works, pp. xxiii-xxiv). Occasional misprints and a few factual errors in dates, names, and titles have been silently amended.
