ABSTRACT
The currents of modern economic thought which are derived from a study of productivity trends have an optimistic ring. They are based on the concept of a universally applicable scientific technique which has before it a nearly limitless realm. Industrialisation and rationalised agriculture are so far the main fields of application for the scientific techniques which have become instrumental in the formation of a global society with higher standards of living.
