ABSTRACT
Until the middle of the last century, the school of social thought which held the center of the stage, as we have elsewhere observed, was that of utopianism. During the thirties and the forties, however, the concepts of the Utopians were subjected to merciless criticism by a group of able writers committed to fundamental social change.
