ABSTRACT
The men and women who have come to the fore during and since the war belong to two main types, united by the overwhelming experience of the resistance movement which they have in common. The first type is that of the pre-war Communist Party members; the second of those who have been swept into the movement by the experience of war, under the influence of the teaching of the former group.
