ABSTRACT

Food and clothing for the large families which are prevalent in this group naturally present many problems. Although in some cases considerable sums of money come into the house as wages, clothes are expensive. In the better-off families the custom is to buy a lot of new clothes just before Christmas. These are handed out as Christmas presents. From the two examples below it will be seen that the older children too buy their parents and siblings clothes as presents.
