ABSTRACT
Advantages in the Study of Alien Family Patterns. The study of the family systems of other peoples has only an indirect value in understanding our present family system, in adjusting ourselves or friends to this system, or in predicting its future. But this indirect usefulness may be greater than the formerly supposed direct values. First, we learn the how of social processes as distinguished from the what, where, or when, and acquire a certain inoculation of the mind against fallacies.
