ABSTRACT

T HIS investigation into the attitudes of adolescent boys and girls towards different aspects of their own development and certain allied psychological and social concepts was carried

out by means of two sets of attitude tests. The second of these was devoted mainly to a study of the attitude of the adolescents to their intellectual, social and spiritual development, while the first was a more exploratory questionnaire concerned with development as only one among five topics. The enquiry, while not conclusive in its findings, suggests that this is a field which may well repay study. As it is one hitherto hardly explored there was little guidance available for the construction of the tests, and few warnings as to the difficulties likely to be encountered in evaluation of the results. In order that the experience gained through the construction and evaluation of these tests may be available for others who may be interested in following up this study by further enquiry, the evolution of the experiment is given in some detail ..
