ABSTRACT
LIKE unemployment, sickness creates two main problems: providing an income during the period of incapacity for work and providing medical services for the restoration of health. This country is unique in that its National Health Service is available free to all its citizens irrespective of any insurance considerations. The National Insurance Scheme and the various occupational sick pay schemes attempt to provide an adequate income to the sick and their families.
