ABSTRACT
The two previous chapters have contained a detailed analysis of the educational experience, prior to the present committal, of a sample of boys sentenced to borstal training. This chapter is an examination of the educational provision, including vocational training, in nine borstal institutions. These nine institutions were selected so as to provide a representative cross-section of borstals. It is assumed that the conclusions which will emerge will have general application.
