ABSTRACT
B Etween the Criminal Justice Act of 1948 and the Prisons Act of 1898, which was the last previous statute affecting the administration of our prison system, lie fifty years. Through these years the system has steadily followed a course which it will be the purpose of this book to explain and define, with a particular description of the methods by which it is being and will be pursued in the light of the Act of 1948.
