ABSTRACT

Certain simple, basic principles of learning are needed for a clear understanding of the essential processes involved in imitation and related forms of social behaviour. Other principles are useful in explaining some of the less important details of imitative behaviour, and probably all of the known facts about learning are relevant in some way or other to some aspect of the problem. In the interest of a sharp focus upon the fundamentals, however, only the most essential principles will be included in this discussion, which is not to be considered a complete survey of learning theory.
