ABSTRACT

THESE THEORIES still come under the rubric of location, i.e. situs = site. In the preceding two groups of location theories, emotion has been presented in terms of intra-personal events, psychological (Chapter IX) and physiological (Chapter X). Ideas of structures, attitudes, qualities and environment which will be appearing in this chapter have already been presented in the chapters previous. But there, when emotion was conceived as an attitude (Bull), this attitude belonged to the subject and could be initiated without regard to the situation. Or when emotion was conceived as a quality (Krueger), the quality belonged to subjective experience, not to the situation. Or when emotion was conceived through structures (Papez), topological centres (Hess), or environment (Brace-land), these concepts referred to intra-subjective locations.
