Appetitive type personalities almost invariably attempt to use other people to do the actual acquiring or manipulating of material objects and themselves profit by the results of other people’s labour. The appetitive type personality is an eminently successful one, within limits, with respect to its acquisitive accomplishments. The appetitive emotional type individual may revel in food and drink but to obtain his ultimate enjoyment he must eat and drink with other people and if possible at their expense. The appetitive control and use of Love responses by intellectual type personalities seems, on the whole, so simple and obvious that no single example need be studied at length. Love type personalities habitually endow inanimate materials with human values derived from themselves. They use inanimate objects for the benefit of human beings.
