ABSTRACT

Located on the southeastern coast of Africa, Mozambique covers an area of approximately 785,000 square kilometres (303,100 square miles). It shares borders with South Africa and Swaziland to the south, Zimbabwe to the west, and Zambia, Malawi and Tanzania to the north. Because of the country's strategic location on the Indian Ocean, its ports have long been an important link to the sea for countries in central and southern Africa.
